Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a 3000 years history and is one the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world. It is used by roughly one fourth of the worlds population for primary health care. It is quite possible that throughout history, more people have been treated by Chinese medicine than by any other formalized system of medicine.
The nature of Qi: Interpreting the nature of Qi is the cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This highly effective system of medical care is based on natural laws which govern the movement of vital life giving energy, both in nature and in the body. This energy, translated as Qi or Chi, moves through the body in precise channels (meridians). In health, Qi supports the harmonious functions of the body, mind and spirit. In illness, Qi moves with disharmony; imbalance begins to surface in the form of specific symptoms. To treat the disharmony of Qi, all symptoms are viewed holistically in relationship to the whole person.
